point + shot: saturday

After spending all last week documenting a week in my life, the last thing I felt like doing this weekend was taking photos. I did however manage to snap a 'work in progress' shot as I transferred my collection of photos and stuff into my album on Saturday.

Saturday afternoon, I rugged up and left the house to see a Very Long Engagement. Loved it. And I finally got my hands on the fantastic Women of Letters book. I can't wait to start reading it but I have a feeling it may have to wait until reports are written. Other than that it was a weekend of lazing around at home in front of the fire and eating yummy snacks.

What did you do on the weekend?

weekend plans

St Kilda Esplanade - Late afternoon

Is there seriously anything better then sitting down on the couch on Friday night, knowing that there is a whole 48 hours for fun and relaxing things? I love to have a combination of things I would like to achieve + making it up as it comes along.

This weekend I plan to make to...
- make a few more squares for the simple granny square blanket
- start thinking about what information I have for reports + what I still need to get
- find some time to read
- start a budget
- start a new knitting project
- print photos + finish week in the life
- get my project life album up to date.
- take a photo walk
- take some time to breath

What plans do you have for the weekend? I hope they are spectacular x

week in the life | the last few days

It's been all about photos this week in my creative space. Photos that document my life. Right now. Here are some of my favourite pictures that tell me current story.

Now to take all the words + photos and turn them into something. I'm hoping to wrap this project up over the weekend and be able to share my pages next Thursday. Posting here is one way of keeping myself accountable to this goal.

Meanwhile, there is still progress being made on the simple granny square blanket. Although, the rate the squares are being made at has slowly decreased since term two started...

week in the life | the first few days

Snippets of life from Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

I thought I knew how I was going to approach this project and then I saw this post from Elise Blaha and now I am back to square one.

For now, I'm just happy to be focusing on the photos and words that capture my life right now.

My camera batteries are charged and I am ready to capture a week in my life. I plan to share my words + photos each day right here.

Are you documenting a week in your life?

week in the life | 2012

I am weeks behind in Project Life. I have pieces of life all over my little desk and photos saved into files ready to print but flipping back through my album it's about 6 weeks till you see a finished week.

Yet I can't stop thinking about Ali Edwards, Week in the Life project. I feel like I need to capture my life as it is right now: work + family + living in the family home because I know next year it will be different.

I attempted it last year. I took some photos. Wrote some words. Then life got busy. Again. This year feels different. I have freed myself from thinking it has to be like the beautiful layouts I see on the internet. I know now that isn't me.

This year I am determined to make it work.

I have a plan and it all started with an email from Kiki-K about their new photobooks. The seeds were planted. All I need it words and pictures to create a beautiful photo book of a week in my life.

I think I will take photos and blog them each night. That way I can keep track of the day to day stuff. I am also going to try really hard to capture my work day as I find that can be tricky, as I start to feel like each day is the same.

Will you be participating in Week in the Life 2012?

my creative space | simple granny squares

I have my fingers and toes crossed that Pip's next book is all about crochet because every time she posts a new project it is amazing and I want to make it and thankfully, I end up with beautiful blankets like the arcade fire one which now sits on my bed.

I had already had a go at trying to make my own version of the simple granny squares before she posted her tutorial.  My younger sister happened to be walking past as I was admiring the squares and soon we were discussing colour combinations. I had a heap of gray wool that I had brought for another project lying around, so we decided to go with the gray look too. I love the contrast that the gray gives to the other colours as it really makes them pop.

Being the impatient crater that I am I could not wait till all the squares were made to start joining them together. I started of crocheting them but in the end we decided to go with the stitched look for this blanket. I love how they look all joined together. So simple but really eye catching. It is probably much easier and way more time efficient to join them all together at once but it's not as fun. I need to see the blanket 'taking shape' to feel i am getting somewhere.

These squares really are so simple to make and I love the look of them joined together. Which is really good because our quick calculations tell us that we need 144 squares, 24 have currently been made.
