stripes

I love stripes. Brendan laughs and rolls his eyes every single time we walk into any clothes or home shops because without fail my eyes can find the stripes. No matter how time or small they may be. I don't even care what colour or size they are, they just make me happy. So happy, that I brought this top in two colours and when I wore it to school Today, I smiled to myself every time I caught my reflection.

point + shot: relay for life

For the second year running, my family and I participated in Relay for Life with a group of our most amazing friends. I am still amazed by what a powerful and emotionally event it is. This year we raised just over $3 300  and have grand plans to double that next year, yes, we have already signed up again! Overall, this year the relay raised over $40 000, which is a fantastic result considering it was the first relay for our area.

We laughed.

 We remembered.

 We cried.

 We walked at night.

We tried to grab a couple of hours sleep wherever we could.

We ate while we watched the sun rise.

We walked during the day.

Most importantly, we fought back which is an such an uplifting and powerful experience.

I also took a heap of video footage to turn into some sort of video tribute in the school holidays, which I personally think sums up the whole experience better than words + photos can in this instance.

saturday

Saturday night we celebrated Brendan's brothers 21st birthday with a lovely low key family dinner. There was photos, cake, speeches and lots of family love. Love celebrating special occasions with a special family.

What special occasions do you love celebrating?

finding balance

Lately I've been having a hard time finding the balance between work and life. Not surprisingly, work is winning at the moment. Schools are such a people place that come Friday afternoon, I am exhausted. All I want to do is hide myself away from people and sleep.

Saturday comes and is usually filled up with boring things that I can't seem to get done during the week. Sometimes, if I am lucky, I manage to see Brendan Saturday night and we might get some time to be together on Sunday.

These last two weeks of term, I am going to strive to find some balance between school and home. Work smarter and not harder. Try and leave more school work at school. Not spend so much time on things that nobody really notices.

sunday afternoon

Recovering from a physically and mentally tough run this morning. 12km. A new PB. Run for the Kids is in less than a month now and thanks to my awesome trainer I now know that I can run it, even if every part of my body is telling me other wise.

Crocheting a few more circles. They are addictive. More details coming soon.

Watching a few more episodes of Friday Night Lights, I can't get enough.

Loving that tomorrow is a public holiday. Thank you Labour Day. Very much looking forward to not waking up with to an alarm clock.

Hoping that there is a little slice of cheesecake left in the fridge for dessert.
